WE KNOW
ORGANIZING WORKS

We know people know best what works in their own communities. Each of us is someone’s trusted messenger. Low-touch digital communications can only get us so far. Transactional campaigns aren’t building durable power.

We know organizing works.

Organizing Exchange gathers the experience and expertise of seasoned organizers to scale the discipline of organizing across our movements. We train those just discovering the promise of organizing while creating a home for experienced organizers to troubleshoot, learn from each other, experiment with tactics, and find community.

We believe we must rekindle our capacity to talk to one another, build relationships, create community, and shape our future together. We believe we must reach beyond the silos we’re stuck in. And we believe the practice and discipline of organizing can help us do this.

In fact, it’s an indispensable part of envisioning and winning a fair and democratic energy transition that meets the interconnected social, economic, democratic, and climate crises of our times.

WHAT IS ORGANIZING EXCHANGE?

Organizing Exchange’s mission is to revitalize organizing power across Canada.

Through low-cost training, leadership development, and cross-organizational collaboration, we drive alignment, provide shared language, and build power at scale to usher in a clean and just energy transition.

By bringing together expert trainers, creative tactics, and rich stories of victories and failures, OrgX supports groups to build the power they need to shift power and make change stick.

Who we are

Organizing Exchange is advised by a team of seasoned organizers from across the country and led by a small staff alongside a largely volunteer cohort of nationally connected, experienced trainers. Together, we ensure our vision responds to real needs and  that our materials are well-suited for campaigners, activists, directors, volunteers, and organizers,  particularly from smaller and local organizations eager to build their organizing capacity.

In our first year, we’ve trained hundreds of leaders and organizers through regional training programs. Here’s what they are saying about their experience so far:

“Organizing can be hard without the tools, but once you understand how to break it down into manageable pieces it becomes substantially easier.”

“A clearer understanding of how to translate values-based organizing into practical, strategic action. The training helped me connect big-picture goals with the on-the-ground work of building power and moving people, and I now feel more confident in my ability to apply an organizing lens to my own campaigns.”

“The culture of organizing has a rich history and the learnings can be taught in a way that is radical, practical, but also respects the culture and uniqueness of each campaign.”

We have seen new collaborations and coalitions form out of our training, campaigns move forward stronger, and organizers that feel more connected and resourced. Join us at a training near you!

Organizations Welcome To Participate

Our training programs are open to organizers and leaders working toward healthy, safe, equitable, and just communities through people-powered movements.

We welcome staff and volunteers from organizations that are building collective power for change. We also welcome leaders between organizational homes or who are building their next campaign.

We're dedicated to building relationships and connections between movements because our struggles are interconnected and our power is strongest when we organize together.

If you’re organizing, you belong here.
